Christophe Van Gerrewey (1982) is a literary architectural and literary theorist, writer and architect. His PhD, ‘Architecture: a User’s Manual. Theory, Critique and History since 1950 according to Geert Bekaert’ was published in 2015. He is a member of the editorial board of OASE, a Dutch journal on architecture, and DWB, one of the oldest literary journals in Flanders, and has also published essays in various other journals and newspapers. He is currently tenure track professor for Architecture, Critique, History, and Theory at EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland.
For Constant 101, van Gerrewey was one of the authors featured in the Constant special edition of De Gids from December 2021. His text “Autodialoog over New Babylon” published in De Gids will also be featured in the forthcoming publication Playing Constant: The Only Constant is Change, Change is the Only Constant. Playing Constant is a publication by Jap Sam Books in collaboration with Zippora Elders and Fondation Constant, reflecting on the Constant 101 project, due spring 2025.
WORK
He is the author of several literary works, including Op de hoogte (2012), for which he received the Debuutprijs from boek.be in 2013, the Literary Prize for East Flanders in 2014 and the European Union Literature Prize in 2016.
