Floris Alkemade (Sint-Oedenrode, 1961) is an architect and urban designer. After completing his studies with Rem Koolhaas at Delft University of Technology (NL) he worked at the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) for 18 years, the last eight years as a partner. Between 2015 and 2021, he served as the Chief Government Architect of the Netherlands, providing solicited and unsolicited independent advice to the Dutch central government on societal challenges and spatial quality. For the publication Playing Constant Alkemade wrote a text. Playing Constant is a publication by Jap Sam Books in collaboration with Zippora Elders and Fondation Constant, reflecting on the Constant 101 project, due spring 2025.

Alkemade contributed to major projects and studies around the world, both at the level of architecture and that of urban planning. In 2022, he was awarded the Rotterdam-Maaskant Prize (2022), a prestigious award for his distinctive work in the field of architecture. The jury praised ‘his great imagination and the ways in which he connects societal issues such as climate change to human conditions’.

Alkemade has been a member of the supervisory board of Fondation Constant since January 2022.
