Paintings, drawings and books

After a New Babylonian summer, this fall Constant is presence can be felt at the auction houses. The art collection of Aldo and Hannie van Eyck containing several beautiful works by Constant will be auctioned at Veilinggebouw De Zwaan, Bruun Rasmussen in Denmark is offering the iconic Femme terrible from 1949 and Bubb Kuyper has several artists’ books by Jorn, Debord and Dotremont from Constant’s own library and four portfolio’s with prints by Constant and other artists. 

May these works of art and passion find loving new homes. 

BRUUN RASMUSSEN
In May 1949, Matie van Domselaer left Constant for Asger Jorn during their stay in Bornholm, at Asger’s house. She took their two daughters, Martha and Olga, leaving their son Victor, then 4½ years old, with Constant. In the period that followed, Constant created several iconic paintings processing his heartbreak, one of them is La femme terrible [1949]. The painting is included in the Modern and Contemporary Art auction Part I of 19 November at Bruun Rasmussen. Read about La femme terrible here.
